God makes great and delivers

The children of Israel, in Egypt, under evil oppression, were shaped into a great nation under the pressure because it brought them to trust in God and not others. God blessed them so mightily that the Egyptians feared them and the king demanded the male children be killed at birth.

But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, Why have you done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

And the midwives said to Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered before the midwives come in unto them

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and grew very mighty

And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that He made them dynasties

And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter you save alive

Exodus 1, 2

God hears our sighs and cries and knows us

And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died

And the children of Israel sighed by because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God

And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob

And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had knew them

Exodus 2

Holy Ground

Moses guarded the flock of Jethro, his father in law, the priest of Midian

And he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb

And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush

And he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed

And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt

And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses

And he said, Here I am

And He said, Don't come near: take your shoes off your feet, for the place stand is holy ground

Moreover he said, I am the God of Your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob

And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God

And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt

And have heard their cry because of their taskmasters

for I know their sorrows

And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians

And to bring them up out of that land into a good land, and large, to a land flowing with milk and honey

Exodus 3

He Comes to deliver from oppression

The cry of the children of Israel is come to me

I have seen their oppression from the Egyptians

Come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, to bring  my people the out of Egypt

Certainly, I will be with you

And Moses said to God, Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you; and say to me, What is his name? What shall I say to them?

And God said to Moses, I AM THAT I AM:
Say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.

The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you

This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations

Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, The LORD God of your fathers appeared to me

Saying, I have surely visited you, and seen what is done to you in Egypt

I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt ...to a land flowing with milk and honey

Exodus 3

All My wonders

Go to the king of Egypt, and say to him, The LORD God of the Hebrews has met with us

Please let us go three days' journey into the wilderness, to sacrifice to the LORD our God

I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand

And I will stretch out my hand, and strike Egypt with all my wonders that I will do in their midst

After that he will let you go

And I will give the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians so when you go

You will not go empty

Every woman will borrow from her neighbor jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing

And you will put them on your sons, and  daughters

And you will plunder the Egyptians

Exodus 3

God gives signs that He is speaking

Moses said, behold, they will not believe me, or listen to my voice

They will say, The LORD has not appeared to you

The LORD said to him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. 3 And He said, Cast it on the ground. And He cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses ran from it

And the LORD said to Moses, Put out your hand and take it by the tail

And he put out his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand

That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you

(The Lord gave two more signs. Moses hand turning leprous and then  back to healthy and water from the river turning to blood)

Exodus 4

He is with our mouth and teaches us what to say

Moses said to the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, but of a slow tongue.

And the LORD said to him, Who made man's mouth?

Who makes the mute, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind?

Have not I, the LORD?

Now therefore go and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what  to say'

Exodus 4

God saw their affliction

The LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him

And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which He had commanded him.

And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel

And Aaron spake all the words the LORD had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people

And the people believed

And when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel

And that He had looked upon their affliction

Then they bowed their heads and worshipped

Exodus 4

He meets with us

Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh

The LORD God of Israel says, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness

Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, neither will I let Israel go

And they said, The God of the Hebrews  met with us

Let us go, we beg you, three days' journey into the desert, and worship the LORD our God

Exodus 5

He is over earthly rulers to deliver His people with a strong hand

And the people said to Moses and Aaron, The LORD look on you, and judge

Because you have made us stink in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us

And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, Lord, why have you so treated this people?

For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has done evil to this people

the LORD said to Moses, Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh

For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land

Exodus 5, 6

He brings us out from under burdens to Himself

And God spake to Moses, I am the LORD

And I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, by the name of God Almighty (God most powerful)

but by my name JEHOVAH (infinite, eternal self-existence) was I not known to them

And I have also established my covenant with them

I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage

and I have remembered my covenant

I am the LORD (who owns and controls everything)

and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians

and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments

And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God

and you will know that I am the LORD your God

who brings you out from under the burdens

Exodus 6

He multiplies His wonders so men will know He is the LORD

And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.

But Pharaoh will not listen to you, that I may lay my hand on Egypt, and bring out my armies, my people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out my hand on Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them

When Pharaoh says to you, Show a miracle then say to Aaron, Take your rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it will become a serpent

And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent

Exodus 6, 7

There is none like the LORD our God

The LORD spake to Moses, Go to Pharaoh and say, The LORD says, Let my people go, that they may serve me

And if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will strike all your borders with frogs (the Egyptians worshipped frogs as gods - God shows His control over them)

And the river will bring forth frogs abundantly, which will come into your house, and into your bedchamber, and on your bed, and into the house of your servants, and on your people, and in your ovens, and in your kneading troughs

And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt

And the magicians did the same with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and said, Beg the LORD to take away the frogs from me, and from my people and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to the LORD

And Moses said to Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I ask to destroy the frogs from you and your houses that they remain in the river only

And he said, Tomorrow. And he said, Be it according to your word: that you may know that there is none like the LORD our God

Exodus 8

The Finger of God

When Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart, and did not listen to them; as the LORD had said

And the LORD said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

And they did so. Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and struck the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and animal; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt

And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast

Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God

and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them; as the LORD had said

And the LORD said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh a he comes out to the water.

And say to him, the LORD says, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

If you will not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you, on your servants, and on your people, and into your houses: and the houses of the Egyptians will be full of swarms of flies, and the ground

I will separate in that day the land of Goshen where My people dwell so that no swarms of flies will be there

So in the end you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth

And I will separate between my people and your people

Exodus 8

If you refuse, the hand of the Lord is on you

The LORD said to Moses, Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him,  The LORD God of the Hebrews says, Let my people go, that they may serve Me

If you refuse to let them go, and still hold them, Behold, the hand of the LORD is on your cattle in the field, on the horses, the asses, the camels, the oxen, the sheep: there shall be a very heavy plague

And the LORD will separate between the animals of Israel and the animals of Egypt

Nothing will die of all that is the children of Israel's

And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow the LORD will do this in the land

And the LORD did this the next day and all the cattle of Egypt died

But the animals of the children of Israel not one died

Exodus 9

To show who is really God

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, Take handfuls of ashes from the furnace, let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh

And in all the land of Egypt it will become a boil making blisters on man and animal

So they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven

And it became a boil breaking out with blisters on men and animals

And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them

As the LORD said to Moses

And the LORD said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say to him, The LORD God of the Hebrews says, Let my people go, that they may serve Me

At this time I will send all my plagues upon your heart, and on your servants, and on your people

That you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth

Now I will stretch out my hand and strike you and your people with a plague and you will be cut off from the earth

I raised you up for this very reason, to show in you my power

That my name may be declared throughout all the earth (that they all might be saved)

Exodus 9

That you may know that the earth is the Lord's

The Lord said to Pharoah, You still exalt yourself against my people, to not let them go

Tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has never been in Egypt

Gather your cattle, and all that you have in the field

For the hail will come down on them and they will die

He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his animals flee into the houses

And Moses stretched out his rod toward heaven and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground

And the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt

So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had never been

Only in the land of Goshen where the children of Israel were, there was no hail

And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have sinned this time

The LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked

Beg the LORD that there be no more mighty thunder and hail

And I will let you go

And Moses said to him, As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the LORD and the thunder and hail will cease

That you may know that the earth is the LORD'S

Exodus 9

My signs, that you may know

The LORD said to Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh

I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might set my signs before him

That you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's son, what things I have done in Egypt, and my signs which I have put among them

That you may know that I am the LORD

Exodus 10

Against the LORD and His people

The Lord said to Pharaoh, If you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow will I bring the locusts into your coast

They will cover the face of the earth, so that one will not be able to see the ground

And they will eat the rest of that which remained from the hail, and will eat every tree which grows for you out of the field

And they will fill your houses, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians

Nothing has ever been seen like this

And Moses turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh and stretched his rod over the land of Egypt

And the LORD brought an east wind on the land all that day, and all that night and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts

They covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened

and they ate every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left

and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you

Please forgive my sin only this once, and plead with the LORD your God, that He may take away from me this death

And he went out from Pharaoh, and prayed to the LORD

And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea

There remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.

Exodus 10

He multiplies His wonders

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go

And the LORD said to Moses, Pharaoh will not listen to you

That my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt

(That builds our trust in Him, even now many centuries later)
Exodus 11

The Lord gives favor and back pay and payback

The LORD said to Moses, I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt

Afterwards he will let you go

When he lets you go, he will thrust you out completely

Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow from his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold (400 years of back pay collected)

And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians

Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people

And Moses said, The LORD says, About midnight I will go into the midst of Egypt

And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sits on his throne

to the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill

(remember Pharaoh ordered the killing of all the male newborns of the Israelites for ? number of years)

and all the firstborn of animals

And there will be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as has never been nor will ever be again

But against any of the children of Israel not a dog will move his tongue, against man or animal

That you may know how that the LORD  puts a difference between the Egyptians and Israel
Exodus 11

Love poured out

This month will be to you the beginning of months

It will be the first month of the year to you

Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month  every man take a lamb, each house

And take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, where they shall eat it

(Since Eden and the coats of skins, His promise showing of His great love poured out for us, taking all our sins and guilt and unworthiness away as far is the east is from the west)

And they shall eat the flesh that night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread and with bitter herbs

I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and animal

And against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment (this is right and equal justice against all the pain and suffering they caused, and the Lamb is the great love covering, making a way of escape)

I am the LORD

(When you can make a universe, then you can make the rules)

And the blood will be to you for a sign on the houses where you are

And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague will not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt

And this day will be to you for a memorial

You shall keep this feast to the LORD throughout your generations forever
Exodus 12

Signs to remember His great deliverance

The LORD said to Moses, Set apart to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of animal.

It is mine

(First because He was going to give His firstborn Son for us and second because He took all the firstborn of the Egyptians)

(This is to help us always know that we mean everything to Him. The firstborn humans were redeemed with silver. Another picture of our redemption. And the animals were brought to the temple for use in worship services. Again and illustration of His great love poured out to redeem us.)

When the LORD brings you into the land  flowing with milk and honey, that He promised you

Keep this service in this month for a sign on your hand, and a memorial between your eyes

That the LORD'S law may be in your mouth

For with a strong hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt

Exodus 13

He leads with love and great care and never leaves

When Pharaoh let the people go,  God did not lead them through the  land of the Philistines, though that was near

For God said, Maybe the people will change their mind when they see war, and return to Egypt

But God led the people through the wilderness of the Red sea

And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him for he (Joseph) had sworn to the children of Israel saying

God will certainly visit you and you are to carry my bones away from here with you

And they took their journey from Succoth and encamped in Etham in the edge of the wilderness

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them

And by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light

He did not take away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people

Exodus 13

The Lord will fight for you

The Lord said, Camp by the sea

I will harden Pharaoh's heart so he will follow them

And I will get honor by what I do to Pharaoh and all his army

That the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD (so they can be eternally saved)

The Egyptians chased them, all the horses and chariots overtook them camping by the sea

When Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel looked up and saw the Egyptians marching after them and they were terrified

The children of Israel cried out to the LORD

Moses said to the people, Fear not, stand still and see the deliverance of the LORD

The Egyptians you see today, You will never see them again, ever

The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace

Exodus 14

With God nothing is impossible

The Lord told Moses, Lift up your rod,  stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it

And the children of Israel will go on dry ground through the midst of the sea

And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they will follow them

I will get honor by this on Pharaoh, and all his host, on his chariots, and his horsemen

And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten myself honor upon Pharaoh

And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them

And the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them

And came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel

It was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these so that  one did not come near the other all night

Moses stretched out his hand over the sea

The LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided

The children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground

And the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left

Exodus 14

The Lord fights for them

The Egyptians chased Israel, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen

And in the morning watch the LORD looked at the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and confused with loud noise the army of the Egyptians

He took off their chariot wheels, that they dragged the chariots

So the Egyptians said, Run from the face of Israel for the LORD fights for them.

And the LORD said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea to bring it on the Egyptians, their chariots, and  horsemen

And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea

The sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians ran

The LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea

The waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that chased them into the sea

Not one remained

But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea with the waters a wall on their right hand, and on their left

This is how the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians

And Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the sea shore

Israel saw that great work  the LORD did on the Egyptians

And the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and His servant Moses

Exodus 14

Greatness of Your Excellency

I will sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider He has thrown to the sea

The LORD is my strength and song, and He is become my salvation

He is my God, and I will prepare him a dwelling

My father's God, I will exalt him

The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is His name

Your right hand, O LORD, is glorious in power

Your right hand, O LORD, dashed in pieces the enemy

And in the greatness of Your excellency You have overthrown them that rose up against You

You sent Your wrath, who consumed them as stubble

Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You,

Glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Exodus 15

He leads us in His faithful love

In Your faithful love You have led the people You redeemed

You guided them in Your strength to Your holy dwelling

Fear and dread will fall on their enemies

By the greatness of Your arm they will be as still as a stone until Your people pass over, O LORD, the people You
purchased

You will bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place, O LORD, You made to live in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, Your hands have established

The LORD will reign for ever and ever

Miriam answered them, Sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously

The horse and his rider He has thrown into the sea

Exodus 15

He turns bitter waters sweet, He heals His people who listen to Him

Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur

They went three days in the wilderness, and found no water (millions of people and all their livestock)

And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. That's why the name of it was Marah

And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What are we to drink?

Moses cried to the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, which when he cast it into the waters the waters were made sweet

There He made this statute and ordinance, and there He tested them

He said, If you hear, hear the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His sight, and listen to His commandments, and keep all His statutes

I will put none of these diseases on you, that I brought on the Egyptians

for I am the LORD that heals you

Exodus 15

He rained bread from heaven

The children of Israel said to them, We wish to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when ate bread to the full

You have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger

Then LORD said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you

And the people will go out and gather a certain amount every day, that I may test them to see if they will walk in my law, or not

Exodus 16

Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full

 Psalm 78

He hears our murmurings against Him and still blesses us

In the morning you will see the glory of the LORD

He hears your murmurings against the LORD

Who are we, that you murmur against us?

The LORD will give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full

For the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against Him

Who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD

The children of Israel looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud

And the LORD spake to Moses, saying, I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel

Speak to them, saying, At evening you will eat flesh, and in the morning you will be filled with bread

And you will know that I am the LORD your God.

Exodus 16

Whatever you need, He never fails

The congregation of the children of Israel journeyed according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped in Rephidim

And there was no water for the people to drink

They thirsted there for water and murmured against Moses, and said, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

Moses cried to the LORD, saying, What can I do? The people are ready to stone me.

The LORD said to Moses, Go  before the people, and take with you the elders of Israel and your rod, with which you struck the river

Take it in your hand, and go

Behold, I will stand before you there upon the rock in Horeb

You will strike the rock and water will come out, that the people may drink.

And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel

Exodus 17

He blots out the remembrance of evil

Then Amalek came, and fought with Israel in Rephidim (rests)

And Moses said to Joshua, Choose men, and go out, fight with Amalek

Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand

When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed

But Moses' hands were heavy so they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it

And Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side keeping his hands steady until the going down of the sun

And Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword

And the LORD said to Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and repeat it often in the ears of Joshua

For I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven

And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi (Jehovah is my banner)

For he said, Because the LORD has sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation

Exodus 17

His goodness and deliverance causes rejoicing

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses into the wilderness, where he camped at the mount of God

And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and bowed and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent

And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the trouble that had come on them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them

And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness  the LORD had done to Israel, whom He had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians

And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly

He was above them

Exodus 18

His special treasure

The children of Israel came into the wilderness of Sinai and camped before the mountain

And Moses went up to God

And the LORD called to him out of the mountain, saying

Tell the children of Israel, You have seen what I did to the Egyptians,

And how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you to Myself

Now,
If you will obey my voice, and keep My covenant, then you will My special treasure above all people

For all the earth is Mine

Exodus 19

No Other

You will be to Me a kingdom of priests,  a holy nation

I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe forever

Moses told the people, be ready on the third day

For the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people on mount Sinai

On the third day in the morning there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceedingly loud

Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God

The LORD descended on it in fire

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery

Have no other gods but Me

Do not make any carved image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth

Exodus 19, 20

He is jealous

(Where there is no love, there is no jealousy)

(idols) You shall not bow down  to them, nor serve them

For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me

And showing mercy to thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments

You shall not use name of the LORD your God in vain (for empty purposes)

For the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy

Six days you shall labor, and do all your work

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, (notice they had servants)

Nor your cattle, nor the foreigner that is within your gates

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day

That is why the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it

Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long on the land  the LORD your God gives you

(We can keep some of these holy rules some of the time but no one can keep all of them all the time)

(God's love for us is so big that He sent Jesus to keep them for us all of the time,

And at the cross He took full, just punishment for all sin of all time, so we can be with the Lord, all of the time)

Exodus 20

I will bless you

You shall not murder

You shall not commit adultery

You shall not steal

You shall not lie about your neighbor

You shall not covet your neighbor's house, or wife, or servant, or ox, or any thing he has

All the people saw the thunders and the lightnings, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking

When the people saw it, they moved far away

And they said to Moses, You speak with us, and we will hear: do not let God speak with us or we will die

Moses said to the people, Fear not: God is testing you, so reverence for Him is before your faces, (so you won't sin by taking Him lightly)

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was

And the LORD said to Moses, Tell them, You have seen that I  talked with you from heaven. So do not make Me like little statues of silver or gold

Make an altar of earth and sacrifice on it  burnt offerings, peace offerings, in all places where I put My name. I will come to you, and I will bless you

Exodus 20

He gives every help to make us holy like Him

God gave specific details about every circumstance  that could happen and what is the right thing to do

His rules showed His infinite perfection, His holiness, that man is not able to do by himself

And He showed His helper He would send to do it perfectly for us and in us.

His ways show how to love each other and be kind to everyone

You will not afflict any widow, or fatherless child

If you trouble them in any way, and they cry at all to me

I will certainly hear their cry

And my wrath will burn hot, and I will kill you with the sword and your wives will be widows, and your children fatherless.

You will be holy to me

Stay far from a false matter

Do not kill the innocent and righteous for I will not justify the wicked

Exodus 20-23

He sends His angel before you

Make no mention of the name of other gods, let it not be heard out of your mouth

I send an Angel before you, to guard you in the way, and to bring you into the place I have prepared

Obey his voice, for He will not pardon your transgressions: for My name is in
Him

But if you indeed obey His voice, and do all that I speak

Then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries

For My Angel will go before you

And bring you in to the most beautiful land on earth (Deuteronomy 8:7, 8)

And I will cut them off

You will serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your food, and water

And I will take sickness away from the midst of you

I will send my fear before you, and will destroy all the people to whom you will come

I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you

And I will send hornets before you to drive them out

Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you increase, and inherit the land.

Exodus 23

They saw God

Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel

He took the book of the covenant, and read in the hearing of the people

And they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient

Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD has made with you concerning all these words

And they saw the God of Israel

And under His feet was a paved work of a sapphire stone, as clear as the heavens

And the glory of the LORD stayed on mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days

On the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud

The sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel

Exodus 24

That I may dwell among them

Bring me an offering: of every man that gives it willingly with his heart

gold, and silver, and brass

And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen

And let them make me a sanctuary

that I may dwell among them

Exodus 25

He gives detailed instructions

God gave detailed instructions for His sanctuary - lavishly beautiful curtains covering gold, silver, bronze furniture and all the utensils for His dwelling

And make holy garments for Aaron your brother for glory and for beauty

That he may minister to Me in the priest's office

Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment over his heart when he goes in into the holy place

for a memorial before the LORD continually

And put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim (lights and perfections); and they will be over Aaron's heart when he goes in before the LORD

Aaron will bear the judgment of the children of Israel on his heart before the LORD continually (like Jesus, our great high priest)

A blue robe with bells around the hem will be heard when he goes in to the holy place before the LORD

And make a plate of pure gold, and engrave on it, HOLINESS TO THE LORD

Aaron will hallow all their holy gifts; and
it shall be always on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD

You will receive their gifts and burn them on the altar for a sweet fragrance before the LORD

I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons to minister to me in the priest's office

And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God

And they will know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them

I am the LORD their God

Exodus 26, 27, 28 29

Written with the finger of God

God's furniture was a bronze altar, bronze washbasins, a golden table for bread, golden lamp stands, a golden altar for burning sweet smells to go up to God with the peoples prayers

And the ark of the covenant

All were covered with pure gold

The Lord gave very specific instructions for each item and exact measures for compounding the fragrances for the incense

God sent a man and gave him special knowledge and training to make it all

I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship

To make special works,  in gold, and in silver, and in brass

And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship

Everyone over twenty was counted and was to give half a shekel to support the work at the Lord's sanctuary

Keep my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generation

So you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you

Keep the sabbath for it is holy to you

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed

When he ended communing with Moses on mount Sinai, He gave him tables of  stone on which His ten commandments were 'written with the finger of God.'

Exodus 30, 31

He turns from wrath and give to inherit forever

The LORD said to Moses, Go down; for your people you brought out of Egypt, have corrupted themselves

They have turned quickly out of the way I commanded them

They have made a molten calf, and worshiped it, and sacrificed to it and said, These are your gods, O Israel, that brought you out of of Egypt

I will destroy them and make of you a great nation

Moses pleaded with the Lord, Remember with great power, and with a mighty hand You brought Your people out of Egypt?

Turn from Your fierce wrath

You swore by Your own self, and said to them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of, I will give to your seed, and they will inherit it forever

And the LORD repented of the evil which He thought to do to His people

Exodus 32

He visits their sin upon them

Moses returned to the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold

Yet now, if You will forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, please, out of Your book You have written

And the LORD said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book

Go now, lead the people to the place I have said

Behold, My Angel will go before you

In the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them

And the LORD struck the people, because they made the calf

Exodus 32

He goes with us and gives us rest

The LORD said to Moses, Go from here, you and the people, to the land I swore to your fathers

I will send an angel before you

And I will drive out (the evil ones who live there) in that land flowing with milk and honey

I will not go up in the midst of you for you are a stiff-necked people: so I  not consume you in the way

Then every one who sought the LORD went out to the tabernacle of the congregation, which was moved from the center to outside the camp

And the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses

And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door

And all the people rose up and worshiped, every man in his tent door

And the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend

If I have found grace in Your sight show me now Your way

That I may know
you

That I may find grace in Your sight

And consider that this nation is Your people

And He said, My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.

Exodus 33

He goes with us

Moses said to the Lord, If Your Presence does  not go with me, do not bring us up from here

How will be known here that I and Your people have found grace in Your sight?

Isn't it that You go with us? That's what separates us, I and Your people, from all the people that are on the face of the earth

And the LORD said to Moses, I will do this thing that you have spoken

For you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name

And Moses said, Please, show Me Your glory

And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before You, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before You; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious

and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy

Exodus 33

All His Goodness

I will make all my goodness pass before you

I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you

And will be gracious to whom I will be gracious

And will show mercy on whom I will show mercy

And He said, You cannot see My face for no man see me and live

The LORD said, Behold, there is a place by Me, and You will stand on a rock

And it wlll come to pass, while My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock

And will cover you with My hand while I pass by

And I will take away My hand, and You will see My back parts but My face will not be seen

Exodus 33

He is Jealous

Cut two tables of stone like the first and I will write on these tables the words that were on the first

The LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there

And the LORD passed by before him and proclaimed

The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth

Keeping mercy for thousands

Forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin

And will by no means clear the guilty

O Lord, please go among us

Though it is a stiffnecked people

And pardon our iniquity and our sin

And take us for your inheritance

I make a covenant before all your people

I will do marvels such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation

And all the people will see the work of the LORD

For it is a awesome thing that I will do with you

I drive out before you six evil nations

Pay attention!  Make no covenant with them so they can't lead you away

But destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves

For you will worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God

Exodus 34

He makes your face shine

I will cast out the nations before you, and enlarge your borders

No man will desire your land, when you go  to appear before the LORD your God three times in a year

These words are the covenant I have made with you

Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights

And He wrote on the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments

When Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in his hand,

He did not know that  skin of his face shined while the Lord talked with him

And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him

Exodus 34, 35

God led them in all their journeys

When all the beautiful tent and furniture for God's dwelling were finished just like the Lord had shown Moses on Mt. Sinai

On the first day of the first month they set up the tent, put the furniture in it

They anointed it with the precious, beautiful smelling oil

And made it all holy to God

Then the cloud covered the tent and stayed on it

And the glory of the Lord filled His sanctuary

When the cloud lifted up, they took the sanctuary down in the special way God had shown

And they followed the cloud, God leading them on their journey

The cloud stayed on the sanctuary in the day and the pillar of God's fire was on it by night in all their journeys

Exodus 36-40

The Divine Exchange

And the LORD (Maker of the universe) called Moses, and spoke to him out of the tabernacle, saying

Say to the children of Israel

If any man of you bring an offering to the LORD, bring your offering of the cattle, of the herd, or of the flock

If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish (because Jesus Christ is without blemish)

He shall offer it of his own free will at the door of the tabernacle

before the LORD

And he is to put his hand on the head of offering (showing a transfer of his sins, guilt, imperfection into the offering and the receiving of the perfection of Jesus life and death in the man's place

And it will be accepted for him to make atonement for him

a sweet fragrance to the LORD.

(Christ replaced this ceremony with the taking of the bread and wine of Holy Communion at the last supper. We are no longer to make these animal sacrifices)

Leveticus 1, 2 summary

Our Great High Priest

If a soul sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things not to be done

The priest will make an atonement for him concerning his sin, and it will be forgiven him

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God

Let us hold fast our profession

For we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities

But was in all points tested like as we are, yet without sin

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need

Leviticus 3, 4, 5

Hebrews 4:14-16

Infinitely Loved

If anyone sins, and commits a trespass against the LORD

The King will answer and say to them, Truly I tell you, If you have done it to one of the least of these my brothers, you have done it to me. Matthew 25:40

and lies to his neighbor in what was delivered him to (keeping it for himself but saying it was stolen)

or in fellowship

or in a thing taken away by violence

or has deceived his neighbor

Or have found what was lost, and lies about it (keeping it), and swears falsely; in any of all these that a man does, sinning like this

He is to restore what he took violently away, or what he has deceitfully gotten, or what delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found

Or all about which he has sworn falsely; he is  to restore it in the principal, and  add the fifth part more to it, and give it to him to whom it belongs, in the day of his trespass offering

He shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD, a ram without blemish to the priest (since the cross, we claim Jesus payment for that sin in our place 'paid in full.'

And the priest (Jesus) will make an atonement for him before the LORD

and it will be forgiven him for any thing of all that he has done

Every one that touches them (HIM) will be holy

a sweet fragrance to the LORD

It is most holy (because Jesus is infinitely holy)

That is why since the beginning man is forbidden to eat blood because it is the sign of His infinitely holy blood to be shed for us

Whatever soul eats any manner of blood (in our culture, any animal killed, the blood is drained out and covered with dirt)

that soul will be cut off from his people (Is anything worse that being left out, not accepted, rejected, not chosen, not liked or loved?

Leviticus 6, 7

To the praise of the glory of his grace, in which He has made us accepted in the beloved

Ephesians 1:6

(Promised in Eden, fulfilled at calvary, anyone throughout history who believes is forever accepted in the Beloved and infinitely loved)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son

That whosoever believes in Him will not perish but has everlasting life

John 3:16

Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

John 15:13

He clothes us with Himself inside and out

The congregation was gathered together to the door of the sanctuary.

This is what the LORD commanded to be done

And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water

You are clean through the word I have spoken to you
John 15:3

And he put on him the beautiful clothing

You have put on Christ Jesus
Romans 13:14

And the breastplate with gemstones over his heart

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith...that you be rooted and grounded in His love

That you may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height

To know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge

that you might be filled with all the fullness of God
Ephesians 3:17-18

And he put the turban on his head with the golden plate, the holy crown; as the LORD commanded Moses.

He crowns you with His love and renews your youth like the eagles Psalm 103

Leviticus 8

To Die For

Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and sanctified them. (Set them apart to God)

He anointed Aaron and his sons to serve God there

They made the offerings that pointed to Jesus's death for us at the cross

Every sacrifice said to all mankind, This is how much I love you, enough to die for

A bullock and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD

For today the LORD will appear to you
(personally to each one)

And the glory of the LORD will appear to you

And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people

And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people

And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar
(showing His acceptance of their offering)

The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us

Romans 5:5

He is our strong consolation

As he has done this day, so the LORD has commanded to do, to make an atonement (covering - like the Lord covered Adam and Eve with coats of skins) for you.

Therefore stay at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the LORD, so that you not die: for so I am commanded.
Leviticus 8

(Any breach of any law was punishable, but, then and now, any who trust in Christ are clothed with Him who fulfilled God's high and holy requirements perfectly for us)

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:
Galatians 3:13

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us
Hebrews 6:18

He has perfected us forever

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took each of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on the fire, and offered strange fire before the LORD,

Which He did not command

And fire went out from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD (they weren't taken to hell, but their earthly life ended)

Then Moses said to Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified (considered holy - the two sons acted in high disrespect toward God) in them that come near me

And before all the people I will be glorified

And Aaron held his peace

Do not drink wine nor strong drink, you, nor your sons with you

when you go into the tabernacle of the congregation, so you not die

It will be a statute for ever throughout your generations

To put a difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean
Leviticus 10

By one offering he has perfected forever them that are sanctified
Hebrews 10:14

Be Holy for I am Holy

The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, Tell the children of Israel

These are the animals you may eat among all animals that are on the earth

(A long list is given of animals that eat only plants, not scavengers)

(And then a long list of animals the children were forbidden to eat)
And for these you will be unclean

Whoever touches the carcass of them will be unclean until the evening

You are shall not make yourselves abominable

For I am the LORD your God

Sanctify yourselves, and be holy for I am holy

For I am the LORD that brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God

So be holy, for I am holy

(What Jesus did at the cross was so all encompassing that all the animals they were forbidden to eat are now acceptable)

God showed this to Peter in Acts 10 where He gave Peter a vision of a huge sheet tied at the corners was full of unclean animals and told Peter to eat

Peter protested but God 'spoke to him again the second time, What God has cleansed, do not call common

More important than the food, God was showing him that all nations are freely accepted into God's love because God is love and made all mankind in His image
Leviticus 11, Acts 10:15

He heals and crowns all

The Lord gave the people instructions for cleansing after childbirth and how to quarantine contagious diseases

Jesus healed them all, then and now, when anyone prayed to Him

Bless the Lord, O my soul

 Bless His holy name

Who forgives all our sins

Who heals all our diseases

Who crowns us with His love

And renews our youth like the eagles

Leviticus 12, 13, 14, 15
Psalm 103:1-5

Divine guidance for our eternal good

The LORD said, Tell Aaron not to come all the time  into the holy place, inside the veil before the mercy seat, which is on the ark of the covenant so that he not die

For I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat

This will be a statute forever for you that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month

You are to humble your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own countrymen, or a foreigner that stays among you

This day is set apart to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year
Leviticus 16

(there was a specific ceremony for the high priest to do)

(Christ's death totally fulfilled all this and He replaced this ceremony with the Holy Communion service of partaking the bread and the wine)

And another statute the Lord gave:

When you kills an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp or outside of the camp (for eating)

Bring it to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering to the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD

If not, blood will be imputed to that man
because he has shed blood; that man will be cut off from among his people

Offer no more sacrifices to devils, after whom you have gone whoring

I will set my face against that soul that eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people

For the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you on the altar to make an atonement for your souls

for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul (Because it foreshadowed the sacred blood of the Son of God to be shed for us)

Pour out its blood and cover it with dust (before eating the meat of the bird or animal)

(when you can make a universe, then you can make the rules)
Leviticus 17

He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse from all unrighteousness

Say to My people, I am the LORD your God

Do not do what other nations do, where I am bringing you

Do My judgments, and keep My rules

They bring you My beautiful happy life

Do not mate with your relatives: father mother sister brother cousins aunt uncle grandparents or grandchildren

Do not look on their nakedness to desire them

Do not mate with your wives during her menstrual cycle

Do not mate men with men or women with women or with animals

That's from evil enemy spirits putting those ideas in your minds

Keep the door of your mind shut from those thoughts

Nations are defiled by these things that I cast out before you

The land will spit you out for these things the Lord hates

Be holy for I, the LORD your God, (who made you and give you life and breath) am holy

Respect your parents, and rest on my rest days

Do not turn to idols, or make to yourselves molten gods

Don't lie to or trick or harm your neighbors but be kind and helpful

Do not let your animals mate with other kinds, just their own kind

When anyone makes an error in any of these things let them bring the offering that show's God's Son taking your punishment for that sin

With many special rules God showed His people how to be holy to Him so their lives would be filled with His joy and beauty and abundance

Since Jesus death at the cross we do not make the animal sacrifices that show His great and mighty love poured out for us but

If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness
1 John 1:9

If we are weak and keep falling into the same sins we ask for His mighty strength to overcome it

Thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in Christ
2 Corinthians 2:14

He has done all our works in us

Whoever gives any of his children as an offering to any false god is to definitely to be put to death

Stone him with stones

I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people

He has defiled My sanctuary

and blasphemed My holy name

Our God made life, is life, and promised to save us from death, not take and kill our children

Children are one of the Lord's greatest blessings

Sanctify yourselves, and be holy: for I am the LORD your God

Keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD who sanctifies you

(He is in full charge over the universe and is bringing mankind into an existence so wondrous that words can't describe it)

Vile thoughts and deeds from God's enemies are to be left behind and not thought about or mentioned

Many specific rules were given by Him to show His great love and blessing

He only forbids things that are from evil and bring harm and death

Anyone that curses his father or his mother is surely to be put to death

he has cursed his father or his mother his blood will be upon him

And the man that commits adultery with another man's wife the adulterer and the adulteress are surely to be put to death

(These things cause great harm and ruin of lives in the hearts of the wives and children)

Joy and blessing in life comes from God and God does not bless what causes harm

 Be holy unto me

For I the LORD am holy, and have separated you from other people, to be Mine

The Lord gave many specific rules for the people

And He gave very specific rules for the priests when they came to serve in the sanctuary

so there could be no doubt about their behavior

for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him

I am the LORD

When errors were made, the proper sacrifices were fulfilled

These rules are so hard that mankind can only do part of them part of the time

this humbles man's heart and shows our need for the Savior who did it perfectly for us

And has to do it perfectly in us for us even now

And took full punishment for every wrong thought and doing in His own body at the cross

That's why the blood of Christ is so sacred a sign

God's love is so big its incomprehensible

Lord, You will ordain peace for us: for You also have done all our works in us

Isaiah 26:12

He makes us as perfect as He is perfect

The servants at God's sanctuary were not to eat the gifts the people brought to God if they were unclean in any way because the gifts the people brought to God were set apart to God as holy

The gifts the people brought to God were to be perfect because our God is perfect

The offerings were to be perfect because they were pictures of Jesus who is infinitely perfect

Keep my commandments, and do them

 I am the LORD

Do not profane My holy name

I will be hallowed among the children of Israel

For I am the LORD who hallows you

That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God

I am the LORD (meaning, I control everything in the universe)

The law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices  they offered year by year continually make those coming perfect
Leviticus 22

For by one offering he has perfected for ever them that are sanctified
Hebrews 10:14

He is our celebration

These are the feasts of the LORD, even sacred gatherings, which you call out in their seasons

Six days you are to do your work but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, a holy gathering

do no work in it

It is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings

(to celebrate that He made everything, finished it all before creation for us, He lived His perfect life for us, His death to wash away all our sins. We rest in His strength for each day, His perfect plan, His getting it all done for us)

Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ
Philippians 1:6

In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death
Romans 3:23, 6:23

When I see the blood I will pass over you
This is the celebration festival for our 'so great salvation'
Exodus 12:13

Feast of unleavened bread - we are thinking all day, everyday. What we think about is what our hearts are eating. Jesus is our unleavened bread

His perfections are infinite. Thinking about Him will lift you up into eternal glory forever

I am the bread of life.
He that comes to me will never hunger; and he that believes on me will never thirst
John 6

Firstfruits of your harvest were to be brought to God as a thank you to the Source of them

Given you all things abundantly to enjoy
1 Timothy 6:17

Fifty days later was the day of Pentecost which was a foreshadowing of God's gift of the Holy Spirit

I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 16:13

a day of atonement celebrating the covering of all sins

feast of tabernacles celebration that He is our dwelling place in all generations
Psalm 90

the feasts of the LORD,  holy convocations

Is anything more worth celebrating than God who made us, loves us, saves us to sit with Him on the throne of the universe forever?

Revelation 3 :21

Our always light

Command the children of Israel to bring you pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually

(He was beaten in our place)

Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation

Aaron is to set it from the evening to the morning before the LORD continually

This is a statute forever in your generations

He is to set the lamps on the pure lamp stand before the LORD continually

(this teaches all that Jesus is our light who is always there for us)

Then Jesus said to them, I am the light of the world

He that follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life

John 8:12

I will never leave you or forsake you

Hebrews 13:5

Our Bread of life

The Lord told Moses, Take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes

set them in two rows, six on a row, on the pure table before the LORD

And put pure frankincense on each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial

an offering made by fire to the LORD

Every sabbath set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant

And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they are to eat it in the holy place

it is most holy to him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute
Leviticus 24:5-9

I am the bread of life. He that comes to me will never hunger; and he that believes on me will never thirst
John 6

(What we are thinking about, that's what our hearts are eating)

Jesus is infinite and eternal love, power, righteousness, justice, creativity, faithfulness, glory and wonder - countless things

(We will never get tired of enjoying His Presence. He is what we've been searching for. He is what we were made for.)

No blaspheming

And the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel

and was fighting with man of Israel in the camp. The woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed, so they arrested him and asked the Lord to show them what to do

The Lord said, Let all that heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him

Tell the children of Israel, Whoever curses his God will bear his sin (Notice it's his God)

And he that blasphemes the name of the LORD will definitely be put to death, this includes foreigners, whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD is to be put to death

God is life and the source of life. He is infinitely high and holy

He is the very source of all

That man was serving God's enemy and so his time on this earth was ended

If he had believed God's promise of a Savior who would die for his sins he was eternally saved
And he that kills any man will surely be put to death
Leviticus 4:10-17

And surely your blood of your lives I will  require; at the hand of every animal I will I require it, and at the hand of man

at the hand of every man's brother I will  require the life of man
Genesis 9:5, 6

Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed: for in the image of God he made man

This is called the 'sin unto death'. God required it for murder, rape, kidnapping, idolatry, blasphemy, cursing father and mother)
Genesis 9:5, 6

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us

for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree
Galatians 3:13

If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
1 John 1:9

The wonder of our God is that His love is bigger than any horror man can devise...and He paid for it all at the cross

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty

There is discipline but not eternal death

For whom the Lord loves he disciplines Hebrews 12:6

God's way provides fairly for all

And the LORD spake to Moses in mount Sinai, saying,

Tell the children of Israel, When you come into the land I give you, the land is to keep a sabbath to the LORD.

Six years plant your field, and prune your vineyard, and gather its produce (revenue)

But the seventh year is to be a sabbath of rest to the land, a sabbath for the LORD: do not plant your field, or prune your vineyard.

Do not reap its outpouring of harvest or  gather the grapes for it is a year of rest to the land

And the sabbath of the land will be food for you, your workers, and foreigners that live among you

Count seven sabbaths of years, seven times seven years - 49 years

Then blow the trumpet throughout all your land on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement

Hallow, set apart, the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all who dwell there

It is a jubilee, a shout of joy to you

Return every man to his divinely allotted inheritance of land

(God gave every family property to grow their own food and be self sustaining so they would be free and not dependent on others who might use that power to wrongly influence them)

and return every man to his family

(Anyone who accidentally killed someone, not hating them, or killing for money was placed in a city of refuge from the avenger of blood - because man is made in the image of God. In the year of jubilee he could return home without fear of an avenging relative of the one he accidentally killed)

It is the jubilee; it is to be holy to you: you will eat the increase of the field.

In the year of jubilee return every man to his possession

Leviticus 25

The Earth is His

Be fair in your prices when you rent or sell your fields

Set the price according to the number of years of crops until the next jubilee

Do not oppress one another but reverently honor the Lord your (God by doing things My way)

Then you will be allowed to live long in the land

You ask, What will we eat during the year we let the land rest?

I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, and it will bring forth produce enough for three years

The land is never to be sold for the land is Mine and you are temporary residents and foreigners with Me
Leviticus 25 -14 +

The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness of it, the world, and those that dwell there
Psalm 24

He bought us back to Himself

And in your land grant a redemption for property

If a brother becomes poor, and sells some of his land, any of his relatives may buy it back for him

Or He can buy it back himself
Leviticus 25

(Jesus is our Redeemer who has bought us back to the Father from evil)

The Lord, your Redeemer, He that formed you from the womb says,

I am the Lord that makes all things

That stretches out the heavens alone

That spreads abroad the earth by myself

Isaiah 44:24

We do it for HIM

If your brother becomes poor, help him

And do the same for foreigners that they may live among you

Do not charge him interest on loans of money or food, but revere your God

My God will supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus
Philippians 4:19

I am the LORD your God
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt give you the best land on earth
Deuteronomy 8: 7, 8

 And to be your God
Leviticus 25

And the King will say, I tell you the truth

Whatever you do for the least of these my brothers, you have done it to me.

Matthew 25:40

He made us free from guilt and condemnation

Make no idols or carved images in your land, to bow down to it for I am the LORD your God

Keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD

If you walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them

Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land will yield her increase, and the trees of the field will yield their fruit

Your threshing will reach to the vintage, and the vintage will reach to the planting time

You will eat and be full

And dwell in your land safely

I will give peace in the land. You will lie down, and none will make you afraid

I will rid the land dangerous animals and violent people

You will chase your enemies, and they will fall your sword

Five of you will chase a hundred, and an hundred of you will put ten thousand to flight

I will turn to you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you

I will make My home among you

I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people

I am the LORD your God, who brought you  out of the land of Egypt that you not serve them

I have broken their hold and make you go upright
Leviticus 26:13

Because of all Jesus did for us we are free from all the punishments written in God's perfect, holy law

And we can claim all the great and wonderful blessings written in His word

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made you free from the law of sin and death
Romans 8:2

(Whenever we make a mistake we remember that part of Jesus work was to live a perfect life in our place and then die for our sins

We remember this and breath freely and are grateful and love Him more and more, which is fulfilling the first and great command - to love Him with all our heart
Matthew 22:37 )

There is therefore now no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus
Romans 8:1

Servants of the Most High God

If a brother that dwells near you becomes poor, and is sold to you do not treat him as a slave, but as a employee and foreigner

He shall work for you to the year of jubilee

And then he shall leave you, both he and his children with him, and return to his own family, to the estate of his fathers

For they are my servants, which I brought out of the land of Egypt

They are not to be sold as slaves

Do not rule over him harshly or cruelly
 but revere your God.
Leviticus 25:39-43

These men are the servants of the Most High God, who show us the way of salvation
Acts 16:17

The Son of man did not come to be served but to serve

And to give His life a ransom for many
Matthew 20: 28

All trouble is to bring you into His joy

If you will not hear me do to what I say, you are despising my statutes and breaking my covenant

I will set terror over you and disease, and sorrow of heart

Your enemies will eat your crops

I will set my face against you and you will be killed in battle

And those that hate you will rule over you

And after all this if you will still not hear me I will punish you seven times more for your sins

I will break the pride of your power
Leviticus 26:14-46

For whom the Lord loves corrects and scourges every son he takes to Himself...for our profit...that we might be sharers of His holiness
Hebrews 12:6, 10

It is all for your joy when you fall into testings... that you may be complete and whole, lacking nothing
James 1:2, 4

In Him we live

Make no idols or carved images

Do not raise up any image of stone or any kind in your land to bow down to it for I am the LORD your God
Leviticus 27

God that made the world and all things in it, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands

And is not worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing He gives to all life, and breath, and all things

And has made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth

and has set their times and boundaries of their land

That they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might feel after him, and find him, though he is not far from every one of us

For in him we live, and move, and have our being, as certain of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring

Since we are the offspring of God, we should not think that the Godhead is like to gold, or silver, or stone, carved according to what man thinks

And the times of this ignorance God overlooked; but now commands all men everywhere to turn back to Him

Because he has set a day when He will judge the world in righteousness by that man He has ordained

And He has given assurance of this to all men in that He raised Him from the dead
Acts 17:28-31

Treasure of His promises

The LORD said to Moses,

Speak to the children of Israel, Tell them, When a man makes an extraordinary vow, dedicating something or someone to the LORD ...
Leviticus 27:2

When you make a promise to God, Do not fail to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools

Better is it that you not vow, than to vow and not pay
Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5

God has vowed or made over 3,000 promises to us in His word

Everything He promised to another in His word is also a promise to you because:

He has no partiality, and says in 1 Corinthians 10:11 that everything in history happened to them for an example and is written for our learning

So the Word of God is an infinite treasure for us to explore that is full of promises for us to claim by faith

But the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those that heard it
Hebrews 4:2

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God
Romans 10:17

So when we need more faith, we need to read more scripture

You are His special one

Nothing a man devotes to the LORD of all that he has, both of man, or animal, or field is be sold or redeemed

every devoted thing is most holy to the LORD.
Leviticus 27:28

You are a holy people to the Lord your God

The Lord your God has chosen you to be a special people unto Himself

Above all people that are on the face of the earth
Deuteronomy 7:6

You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a preserving  people

To show the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light

(When people see how wonderful God is they turn to Him and are preserved from all evil)
1 Peter 2:9

The LORD will preserve you from all evil

He will preserve your soul

He will preserve your going out and your coming in from now on and forevermore
Psalm 121:7, 8
